Late bloomer Josh Mantellato will make his NRL debut for the Newcastle Knights against South Sydney at ANZ Stadium on Saturday night.

Mantellato, 26, has been preferred as Newcastle’s right winger instead of Peter Mata’utia.

A prolific pointscorer in NSW Cup, the personal trainer from the Central Coast is also expected to handle the goalkicking duties.

Veteran Matt Hilder has also been recalled after rookie Adam Clydsdale was ruled out with illness.
