Police are on the hunt for a man who was dressed up as a lizard and another as a construction worker at Maroubra on Friday night.
The fancy-dressed pair are alleged to have assaulted three Italian backpackers, who suffered serious injuries.
Police said the three males, aged 22, 24 and 26, were driving along Bernie Kelly Drive near the South Maroubra Surf Club car park when a can of beer struck their car at 11:45pm.
They stopped the car and called out to a group of people standing nearby, who were wearing fancy dress.
Two men from the group then allegedly approached the car and broke one man’s nose, fractured another man’s jaw and knocked two of the third man’s teeth out.
The pair then walked away and were last seen heading through Arthur Byrne Reserve.
Anyone with information about the incident is urged to contact Eastern Beaches Local Area Command or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
